Dr. tate cockrell
Tate Cockrell was raised in Aberdeen, Scotland and Laurel, Mississippi. He
graduated from William Carey University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Biblical Studies. He went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned an MA in Religious Education, an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as a PhD in Psychology and Counseling.
He currently serves as Director of Doctor of Ministry Studies, as well as Professor
of Counseling and the Fulp Chair of Biblical Counseling at Southeastern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
He has previously served as Counseling Minister at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, NC; Associate Pastor of Counseling and Recovery Group Ministries at The Summit Church in Durham, NC; Pastor for Member Care at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL; Family Pastor and founder of the Center of Hope and Healing at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, MS; and Assistant Professor of Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also served as Director of Ministries for Dawson McAllister Association, a parachurch youth ministry, where he co-hosted Dawson McAllister Live, a nationally syndicated live radio program reaching 500,000 people each week.
He travels throughout the United States and internationally preaching and teaching on marriage, family, grief, parenting, divorce, recovery, men’s issues, and pastoral health. He is a member of The Summit Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He enjoys biking, boating, and traveling with his family. He has been married to his wife Wendy for 32 years. They have one daughter, Tatum (31), and twin sons, Preston and Spencer (23).
